The new birth is not a metaphor — it is a command. Jesus said you must be born of water and of the Spirit. This is how the early church experienced it, and it hasn't changed.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Baptism in Jesus' Name
Water baptism is not a tradition — it is a divine command with a specific method and a specific name. The New Testament church baptized by full immersion in the name of Jesus Christ — not titles, not a formula, but a name. The name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is Jesus.
When Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize in the name (singular) of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19), He gave a title-description of one God. The apostles knew that singular name was Jesus — Lord of all, Savior, and the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9).
Baptism in Jesus' Name is more than obedience — it is a burial. Paul wrote in Romans 6 that we are buried with Him through baptism into death, so that we can rise to walk in newness of life. The old man goes under the water; a new creation comes up. The name of Jesus carries the power to wash away every sin.
Every recorded baptism in the book of Acts was performed in the name of Jesus Christ. Not once were people baptized using the three titles. The apostles consistently obeyed the command by calling on that name.
Acts 2:38

"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."
Born of the Spirit
The Baptism of the Holy Ghost
On the Day of Pentecost, something happened that the world had never seen before. One hundred and twenty disciples were gathered in the upper room, and the Holy Ghost fell — and when He came, they all began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).
This was not confusion. This was not emotionalism. This was the fulfillment of the promise Jesus gave in John 14 and Acts 1:8 — that the Father would send the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, who would take up residence inside His people. The initial evidence of this infilling was — and still is — speaking in other tongues.
In Acts 10, the Holy Ghost fell on Cornelius' household while Peter was still preaching. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were astonished — "for they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God." In Acts 19, Paul laid hands on twelve believers at Ephesus and "the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied."
The pattern is consistent and Biblical: when the Holy Ghost comes in, tongues come out. It is the supernatural, Spirit-empowered evidence that God has taken up residence in you — not a second-class experience, but the promise of the Father for every believer (Acts 2:39).
This is not about a denomination or a style of worship. This is a promise Jesus made and the apostles delivered on. If you haven't received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, this is your moment. God is still pouring out His Spirit — just as He did in Jerusalem, Caesarea, and Ephesus.
Acts 2:1–4
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place... And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Acts 10:44–46
"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished... For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God."
Acts 19:6
"And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied."
John 3:5
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Joel 2:28
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."
